The longest and one of the most successful seasons of UNI Panther women’s basketball is now in the books. After winning a Missouri Valley Conference regular season crown and reaching the MVC title game, UNI played into the Third Round of the 2016 Women’s National Invitation Tournament.

A resilient second half back on March 17 helped UNI earn a 64-62 victory at the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Panthers added a 64-58 home win March 19 over the Drake Bulldogs to advance further into the WNIT. UNI’s run ended March 24 at South Dakota as the Coyotes won a close contest, 51-50.

The Panthers finished the season at 24-11 after their second-ever MVC regular season title, third-ever MVC championship game appearance and longest WNIT stint in program history. UNI also shot an MVC-record 846 three-pointers while adding other team records in games (35), minutes (7075), assists (499), defensive rebounds (906) and field goal attempts (2043).
